Welcome to the Blackboard e-Education platform—designed to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology.
The OneClass Chrome Extension is not available directly via search in the Chrome Extensions Store and students are being phished with the following link to install it:
During installation, the extension requests permissions to "Read and change all your data on the websites you visit". However, students may not closely read or fully understand the requested permissions before accepting them. The extension adds a button inside the Learn pages to "Invite Your Classmates to OneClass".The plugin will email all the students in a students' class (utilizing Learn URLs and resources, which are functioning as designed) to promote the OneClass plugin/product.
The mail content is:
"Hey guys, I just found some really helpful notes for the upcoming exams for courses at https://oneclass[dot]com/s/signup. I highly recommend signing up for an account now that way your first download is free!"
This plugin also contains code that collects and send the users' credentials (both username and password) to an external site. Through log analysis Blackboard has found that users who have installed the plugin have been logged into their Learn instance from suspicious IP addresses, presumably by a user from OneClass, using the stolen credentials.
This plugin is malicious and should be removed from the Chrome browser if it has already been installed. We also recommend that users who installed it change their passwords.
If you need tech support for Blackboard please go to http://lcsc.edusupportcenter.com/ -- we strongly recommend the Live Chat option for the best help. The Help Center is there for you 24/7. A support person will either help you or ticket your case and escalate it. You can call the center toll-free at 855-671-6899 but, again, we recommend Live Chat. There is no other phone number or web site so don't listen to anyone who tells you to call or visit another site. The e-Learning Services email is for interdepartmental communication, not Blackboard help.
There are FAQ, orientation information, and down-loadable student guide to Blackboard at http://www.lcsc.edu/e-learning/students/ but no live help.
